Preparations

Originator in this matter was Ukraine which in 2003 signed an agreement with our country about that. In Poland six cities were chosen which were supposed to run as places of direct games. Were they Chorzow, Gdansk, Cracow, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw. After announcing a decision in accordance with the act a PL.2012 company was formed, for which the design and the structure of all new facilities and the reconstruction are basic tasks, essential to football games. Finally decided about construction of four new stadiums in Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan and Wroclaw.

The National Stadium in Warsaw

Baltic Arena in Gdansk

The Stadium was made on the place of the old Stadium of the Decade, on Warsaw Prague. JSK Architects are the initiation of the scheme and two cooperating GMP companies and Schlaich. The Polish-German undertaking is impressive not only in its capacity but also in the outside shape. The Warsaw National Stadium has capacity of 55 thousand spectators. A structure of the stadium is an outline executed from concrete poles which were entangled with belts of the special openwork metal sheet in the white and red colour. From a distance the stadium to the illusion resembles the great wicker basketful or the national waving in the wind flag. At the stadium is a transparent roof, guaranteeing the excellent lighting during the day. A floor surface of the stadium is beyond 200 000m, the height of the facade 81,5 m.

The Gdansk Stadium was built in the Letnica district and German architects from the company Kellermann Wawrowsky Rhode were its designers. As befits the Shipbuilding city inseparably connected with the sea and the structure of ships, traditions of old sea builders were an inspiration for Stadium. Thatching the stadium consists of resembling formers, more and more transparent elements upwards. With this peculiar solution the lump of the stadium to the illusion is looking like the stone of amber, gleaming in the sun. The stadium with capacity of 44 thousand spectators is making up from six storeys, from which the lowest is below the ground. It is possible to find here a VIP boxes, business, shops, restaurants, offices and also the club museum.

A studio of Construction System Modernisms is the initiator of the scheme of the reconstruction. The project assume a little bit less extravagant than others, resembling the regular cylindrical in shape covered with white membrane. From a distance the stadium resembles the pillow a little bit blown up.

Wroclaw’s “Lantern”” as is determined stood up not in the city centre, but in Wroclaw’s Maslice. Stadium similarly as the one in Warsaw is the result of the project of the JSK studio Architects. A distinctive feature of this stadium is an elevation made from the special ring, which thanks for appropriate highlighting can change colours.  They may be adapted for events taking place there.
